John RobertJoeCocker OBE (20 May 1944 – 22 December 2014) was an English singer known for his gritty, bluesy voice and dynamic stage performances that featured expressive body movements. Most of his best known singles were recordings of songs written by other song writers, though he composed a number of songs for most of his albums as well, often in conjunction with songwriting partner Chris Stainton.[1]

His first album featured a recording of the Beatles‘ “With a Little Help from My Friends“, which brought him to near-instant stardom. The song reached number one in the UK in 1968, became a staple of his many live shows (Woodstock and the Isle of Wight in 1969, the Party at the Palace in 2002) and was also known as the theme song for the late 1980s American TV series The Wonder Years. I ran into this issue recently, and there could be many different fixes for this problem, from CSS, incorrect HTML, etc. This fix applies more if using certain dark mode extensions. If you run into this issue where a background image is not showing on a website, first try adding an exception to your dark mode extension. For instance I run Dark Reader, and this was causing background images not to display properly on Firefox.

Dark Reader

Here is a quick video of what I mean:

Simply toggle the extension off for the website and you should see your background image now.

Is the universe flat, spherical or hyperbolic?

Cosmic Topology is the name given to the study of the overall shape of the universe, which involves both global topological features and more local geometrical properties such as curvature. Whether space is finite or infinite, simply-connected or multi-connected like a torus, smaller or greater than the portion of the universe that we can directly observe, are questions that refer to topology rather than curvature. A striking feature of some relativistic, multi-connected “small” universe models is to create multiples images of faraway cosmic sources.

So who directed Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back? After directing the original Star Wars movie, George Lucas turned to his friend and mentor Irvin Kershner to direct the very first Star Wars sequel, Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back.

In this video, we’ll hear some stories straight from Irvin Kershner himself regarding his approach to directing The Empire Strikes Back and filmmaking in general, as well as what the property and genre of Star Wars meant to him. (source Youtube/CinemaStix)
